Built on a single open-access backbone — designed to plug into your network the way you need.

Dedicated Internet Access (DIA)

A premium, high-availability connectivity solution. Unlike shared GPON or Coax products, DIA provides a non-oversubscribed, low latency, point-to-point connection between the customer’s edge and the MMBN backbone. It includes 24/7/365 monitoring for clients who view connectivity as mission critical. Scalable from 1 Gbps to 100 Gbps.

Internet Transit

Carrier-grade, low latency, IP transit delivered across the open access MMBN backbone. With 24/7/365 monitoring, it is engineered for ISPs, WISPs, multi-homed enterprises, and other customers whose connectivity is their business. Scalable from 10 Gbps to 400 Gbps.

Ethernet Transport

Carrier-grade, Layer 2 Ethernet services allow businesses to connect multiple locations via a point-to-point or point-to-multipoint topology. Customers can choose EPL, a rigid “pipe” between two points, or EVPL, using Ethernet Virtual Connections that allow multiple services to run over a single physical interface. Scalable from 1 Gbps to 100 Gbps.

Private Network (IP-VPN)

Layer 3 IP-VPN services enable customers to interconnect multiple network segments across the MMBN backbone using a private MPLS network dedicated to the customer. These connections allow customers to propagate routing and subnet information among their connected network segments. Scalable from 1 Gbps to 100 Gbps.

Wavelength

Layer 1 wavelength services provide customers many of the advantages of dark fiber — enhanced security, privacy, and deterministic latency — with the added benefit of a fully lit, provider-managed transport solution. MMBN dedicates an optical channel exclusively to the customer, physically isolating their traffic. Scalable from 100 Gbps to 400 Gbps.

Dark Fiber

Long-term IRU (20 years) and lease access (2-10 years) to unlit fiber pairs along the MMBN backbone. Build your own optical layer, control your routing, and connectinany of California’s 58 counties to the MMBN open-access infrastructure.

Why MMBN

Why select MMBN

A state-of-the-art fiber optic backbone, run with carrier discipline. Built for the long term, available to all.

Open Access

Equal, non-discriminatory access for any qualified provider — by design and by statute. Every carrier, ISP, and anchor institution connects on the same transparent terms, with no preferential routing or gatekeeping anywhere on the network.

Secure & Resilient

Diverse fiber routes, monitored around the clock, and engineered to California’s disaster-resilience standards. Redundant paths and hardened facilities keep traffic moving through wildfires, earthquakes, and grid disruptions.

All 58 Counties

Backbone reach into every California county — urban cores, rural communities, and tribal lands alike. A single statewide network closes the gaps legacy infrastructure left behind and brings carrier-grade fiber within reach of every community.

Wholesale Pricing

Transparent, cost-based wholesale pricing built to close the digital divide. Predictable rates and long-term agreements let providers reinvest in last-mile expansion and deliver more affordable service to Californians.
